The Third Face of Power – A Progressive Worldview
First Installment – September 30, 2009
Less than one year into President Obama’s term our country finds itself embroiled in a cultural struggle that runs deeper than political partisanship and broader than the traditional liberal/conservative spectrum. Some commentators view the growing insurrection as predominantly a clash between disparate socio-political ideologies. Others point to the economic difficulties we currently face and opine that too much or too little regulation of commerce is both the cause and effect of a populist awakening. Both of these may be true, and there are undoubtedly other catalysts in the brew, but I believe something more sinister is at work in our system. The real menace lies in the ultra wealthy core of the progressive movement. Within this corrupt nucleus of the far left, the thirst for affluence has long since been quenched and greed replaced by an obsession to dominate. Dualities such as Capitalism and Socialism, individualism and collectivism, Marx and Rand, corporations and unions, Friedman and Keynes do not describe perspectives of truth or foundations of society for the progressive elite because they do not believe in absolutes. Such notions are merely descriptive frames of reference they employ to construct and deliver the propaganda needed to control the weak they claim to serve. I am becoming more “awakened” by the day to an ugly reality that lies well below the surface of our culture, an age-old Matrix of power – and unfortunately I think I’ve swallowed the red pill. In this article I intend to post installments of my personal "connect the dots" exploration of several power maps and the progressive networks that they describe. I will begin
Installment 2 by exploring
Anne Bartley, the
Grassrots Policy Project, and the
first power map in this series.
